We make all our gelato and vegan sorbetto from scratch. This allows us to ensure the highest quality at all stages of production. We always use fresh fruit and our ingredients are sourced locally when possible. In addition to our line of Oakland inspired flavors we also offer a rotating selection of seasonal and experimental flavors.
The Oakland Gelato story began with a trip to Italy. Founder Bobby Nguyen, a Bay Area native, taught himself to speak Italian and traveled around the country. In a land renowned for its food, one thing outshined the rest: the gelato. Two years later he returned to Italy to study artisanal gelato making. On that trip and trips that proceeded it, he sampled gelato from regions across the country, each with it's own unique flavors and regional characteristics. With that in mind he handcrafted recipes that embody the flavors of the Bay Area and from there, Oakland Gelato Company was created.
